Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the Smart Home Controller II from Amazon UK (I am based in the UK), but I’m unable to connect it through the app on my iPhone. I’ve also tried using the iPhones of other family members, but we all receive the same error.

I have already tried resetting the device, disconnecting the power for 10 minutes, assigning a new IP address from the router, restarting the router, deleting and reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, and replacing the network cable, but I’m still unable to set it up. I have also checked that the app has permission to access the local network.

I’m getting quite frustrated with the setup process. Could anyone please help or advise what might be causing this issue?

Many thanks.

Did you only try scanning the QR code? Or also manually entering the data? I've been familiar with this problem for a long time with my wife's various iPhones; a connection was only ever possible with manual entry.

Furthermore, you need to allow access to the local network on the iPhone, otherwise it won't work.

Hi STdesign,

Thanks for your reply. I have tried entering the MAC address and IP manually, but it was still unsuccessful. Also, I have allowed the app to have local network access.

It is a bit strange because the app seems to recognise that my controller is not connected to the network. When the controller is not connected with a cable, the app shows the wiring connection instructions. However, once it is connected and the green lights are on, when I attempt to connect to it, the app shows an error instantly.

Problem solved. For reference, I have a NAS and a second router set up as an access point on the first floor, connected to the main router. The Philips Hue Hub was connected to the second router.

I disconnected all other devices from the main router and connected the SHCII directly to it. After doing this, it was able to recognise the network.
